A fun opportunity for children of the Grove at Calvary Bible Church to actively raise money for The Greatest Journey program that accompanies Samaritan’s Purse Operation Christmas Child Shoeboxes

What will the Grove Students be raising money for?
Students are running to raise money for Operation Christmas Child (OCC) shoeboxes. For an extra $6 dollars per box, The Greatest Journey (TGJ) book can be included with each shoebox. The TGJ is a 12-week class that recipients of OCC shoeboxes participate in. The students use TGJ book in a 12 week class, which teaches them about the greatest gift- Jesus! Hermon C Michael Park
Location at park: soccer field next to the basketball courts. Course will be clearly marked.
Course is 0.15 mile per lap. All areas of the course are visible during the run-a-thon.
How:
How will the run a thon work?
Participants will gather at 1:30 at the park. We will begin by stretching and listening to a short devotional about what we are doing and why. At 2:00 the run will begin! Kids will be prompted to begin the run. Participants can run, skip, jog, or walk laps. Each lap they complete they will receive a straw to help them keep count of their laps. Water stations will be available around the course and at the 15 minute marker.
While participants are running, parents and spectators will be cheering them on from the side lines. At each 5 minute marker we will spur runner on with huddles, kazoos, cheers, stickers, posters, water, and encouragement (Items will be provided).
How are we planning to raise money?
Grove participates can invite family and friends to come out and cheer them on for their race. Participates can share that there will be a jar for people to make donations on their behalf. (Venmo, Pay Pal, and Cash App will be available as well.)

In case of rain, the run-a-thon will be rescheduled to Sunday, December 15th.
