Serve our community

As we navigate this season together, we know there are ways we can continue to serve and love our community. We are all praying for healthcare workers as they work diligently to keep our community well. Additionally, join us in praying for the families in our community who may experience employment uncertainty, food insecurity, or trauma throughout this time.

Below are a few options for how we can all join in serving our community, especially now.

Mask

Piedmont Athens Regional is accepting donated cloth masks. Visit their website here to find patterns and learn more about how you can help.

Contact St. Mary’s Foundation Director by emailing here for more information about construction and donation procedures.

Clarke County School District is continuing to deliver meals to children while they are at home for the coming months. Meals will be delivered to select neighborhoods via school bus. Volunteers are needed to ride the bus with school nutrition experts, and hand out meals to kids along the route.  See here for volunteer safety guidelines and opportunities to serve.

Our Daily Bread, through Downtown Ministries continues to provide lunchtime meals to the Athens community. They have begun providing grab-and-go meals provided by local restaurants in response to recent recommendations. Find more information about how you can give or support this project.

Chosen for Life Ministries helps churches, families, and communities care well for foster and adoptive children. In the midst of the current health crisis, our communities are all struggling. CFLM is stepping in to help support the people and places in our community that care for vulnerable children in our state's child welfare system. Reach out to Anna for ways you can support local foster families and case managers through this time.
